I cannot make it to the meeting. I am thinking about whether to set up a plain jane web site, or do a WordPress site. I am inclined to the latter (if I had no experience I might opt for the former) because I’ve had a WordPress site in the past, and technically inclined (at least I’m not afraid of it). Also, I’m thinking that the WordPress option could be more scalable, allowing me to add blog content related to my niche to increase credibility and maybe even help generate more traffic. My goal is to get something out there quickly, but a week or two won’t hurt. I’m also wondering about the cost – haven’t looked into it yet. As I recall, WordPress is essentially free, and squarespace only $12-18/mon. What advice do you have?
Hey Ed, so as of ealier this week, I sent out the final draft for an article I was asked to write in the hospitality marketing niche. Anyways, I had offered to do it for free but in the end they kept asking me my rates and have now asked me to invoice them for the article as they loved it and actually want to begin working on the next one.
I am not sure if they forgot I had initially offered it pro bono as they said I had some good samples and were maybe already sold on my work.
But this was yesterday that they sent me the message but I haven’t sent them a quote yet as I was unsure about how to send it. I had planned to go back to the course to find out what I should do but have been super busy, plus I knew the call was coming up today.
Also, not thinking the project would be paid for, I didn’t send them any contract or terms, so what I want to know is if you think I should remind them about the job being offered as a pro bono project and how should I approach going forward with them, because they said they will need between 2-4 articles a month.
Went through my prospecting this morning and I actually have more warm prospects than I thought – 19 in all. Out of about 600 prospects that isn’t very many, but it is a start. Will you be critiquing our websites? Curious as I have had mine up for 3 months. May have to hear your answer in the recording because I had a prior appointment.
