The very first thing a prospective client wants to know is “How much do you charge for…?” I have learned to get them on the phone for a conversation and find out more about their company, needs, etc. before quoting prices. When I ask about their budget they stumble, don’t answer, ask about my charges (again), or change the subject. I have a difficult time getting that information from them. I feel like I’m flying blind when it comes to the next step in terms of what to say or charge. I get the impression they are not accustomed to someone asking about their budget.
What is the best strategy for LinkedIn? I have an existing account with over 1500 connections. They ‘know me’ from my previous jobs and current freelance business in the music industry.
Do I build the copywriting business on top of the existing LI profile? Or do I start from scratch so as not to confuse people?
Honestly … I haven’t received ANY music work from LI and I’ve been there for several years attempting to learn how to leverage the site.

#1 Susan Baracco gave me some excellent advice on my website. She suggested that I change healthcare writer to something more focused like neutraceutical writer however I wonder if there is any money in writing for nutraceutical companies. Am I over thinking this?
#2: A question, should I remove the logos from my website since they are neutraceutical and wellness companies in the event I decide to say go after medical treatments and remedies for instance? I think the reason that she mentioned neutraceutical companies is that is what I have been doing writing web content and copywriting for those types of companies (logos are on my website).
#3: You suggested that we build one website with one targeted focus so I have created a list. Does it matter if say ‘I write for medical treatments centers and remedies’ for example but call on pharmaceutical companies for writing gigs?
#4: I don’t quite understand the whole niching down as I can do so much in terms of what I know and have experienced. I don’t want to overthink this but I don’t want to go after a niche that doesn’t pay like B2C for instance. Would going after neutraceutical (supplement) companies be like B2C? Would that even pay?
#5: Is the focus just to get some traction like calling on medical treatment centers to get some gigs and then branch out from there? This is still a little confusing to me. I know I might sound like there is so fear or analysis paralysis but I don’t want to pick the wrong niche.
DO any of these resonate with you:
1:Medical practice writer
2:Nutraceutical writer
3:Hormone deficiency writer
4:Functional medicine and naturopathy
5:Medical treatments and (remedies)
6:Medical diagnosis and treatments
7:Pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals
8:Medical treatments and pharmaceuticals
#6: I also design websites is it ok to include that on my writer website?
