Hi Ed and Susan. I have my first conference calls coming up in response to my warm emails. Although I’ve been writing articles and blog posts for quite a while, I’m new at marketing myself as a copywriter in this field. I’m not sure what services they may be looking for.

I was wondering if you could talk a little about the impostor syndrome. I realize I may be behind where many are in your class but I feel a little like I don’t know what I’m doing – yet I don’t want to say that to them! I do believe I’m a good writer and I think this could be a great B2B opportunity that I’d love to pursue but now I’m starting to feel like I just don’t have the experience to do this. Do you have any advice for how to approach these calls when feeling less than confident?

    Thanks so much

    Hi Susan & Ed –
Restating my question here, posted in Forum on Tuesday – apologies for length of this submittal:

HELP needed, please! I must craft an intelligent reply to a WEP response (imagine that!), per below:

“Thanks for reaching out. I am curious to see if you have any writing samples specifically for professional services firms in the form of content you’ve produced for accounting or consulting firms?

If you notice on our site we have 9 different service lines, so 9 different personas that we write for, etc.

If you wouldn’t mind sharing some samples maybe I can gain a bit more insight from you on what you have done to date and then if it makes sense to set up a time for us to discuss some of the gaps we have currently in the form of a freelance writer assisting on content.”

Kady knows this ground has been tilled before … saw Ed’s Loom from back in December, plus others from this forum. From my generalist path I do not, for the moment, have relevant samples OR relationships. All I can really say is what I’m good at (let’s say understanding and speaking to the personas) and how that could apply.

Here’s what I’ve got in mind:

I think I can craft a decent response that conveys why I’m good at this type of work, weave in the MBA/managerial perspective, etc. (Relevant samples be damned) Need to script this regardless, as it will be a “thing” until it isn’t.

BURNING QUESTION is whether I take the bull by the horns and say that while I’ve been writing content for a long time, this is a NEW area of focus for me – hence lack of directly relevant samples.

As Dawn reminded me earlier, I know this is a long game …

    Thanks –
