    Hi Ed,

My question: On the last momentum call, I discussed with you a potential client who has said she has consistent work for me, however, I’ve had a heck of a time pinning her down to get anything definite scheduled. You gave me a suggestion to follow up with her, which I did. She responded late last week with this email:

“Sorry we have not connected. I had to go out of town on a shoot and have not been able to catch up. I do want to meet with you but I want to be able to give you something . Can you send over to me again how you charge for jobs. I am used to an hourly rate – is that a possibility?

Thank you for your patience. I do think we can work something out here.”

This is the person who told me initially she believed she could give me 10-15 hours of work a week. Would love to hear your advice.

    Thank you!
    Suzanne

    Hi Ed,
I’m pretty sure going to my industry’s national conference in August is a good idea for me since one of my targets are marketing directors and CMOs for AEC firms and the conference is created for that demographic. However, I want to be both strategic and realistic about what I can accomplish marketing-wise by going. Do you have resources/recommendations for how to come up with a plan for an all-out networking event like that? Tips on making the decision about whether it’s worth attending?
    Thank you!
    Alison

I have a pricing question. I have a retainer client that I’ve been working with for almost 3 years. He’s a real estate agent in San Francisco with a fast growing business. I provide 2 blog articles a month for him. One of those is a monthly interview of someone in the community to spotlight them.
Now he’s taken on a bigger role at Keller Williams and wants me to do a spotlight interview of one of the KW agents and things they are doing in the community that are not real estate related. Like what I do for his blog.
I haven’t raised my rates with him for the blog and I don’t plan to in the near future. He’s been paying $450 per post.
But I see this as a new opportunity to charge more since this is with Keller Williams via his new role. We talked about this new interview for about 10 minutes yesterday when we had our regular phone call because he had back to back meetings. (this is usually how it goes – I really enjoy working with him) Then he sent an email to the agent to interview, me and the marketing manager at KW giving the go-ahead for this.
How do I make this easy for him to sign off on a higher price? I know from experience when I put it in the right way he says “yes”.
How do price this new work and approach the question of ongoing work with his new role?
    Thanks for your help.
