I have a client I’ve been working with for almost two years, and he’s the best client ever. The problem is, when I started with him, my fees were lower than what they are now. Over time I’ve been charging him more – and he never complained – but there is still a considerable gap with what I would charge other clients for the same amount of work. Is there anything I can do? As I said, he’s one of my best clients, and I’d really like to keep working for him.
thanks!
Here’s another question for something that came up this morning.
I have a call with a prospect tomorrow for a 4-month retainer (my first one) that includes content strategy, production and promotion. It looks like the prospect is going to sign. From my first call with them it was clear they needed a lot of things. My first proposal, however, was limited in scope, as I never worked with them and I wanted to start with something smaller. they came back saying they were interested in a more comprehensive thing, hence the retainer.
So here’s my doubt: after I sent the proposal, three weeks ago, they almost completely disappeared. That could be for any reason, but I’m not sure if this could be a red flag? What kind of questions can I ask to find out whether they’re the right people to work with?
Hi Ed,
I just got an inmail form the Pres of an B2B Agency. She basically wants to know what my blogging rates are.
I haven’t worked for any agencies yet. From what I’ve been hearing here, you decrease your rates by 10-20%, is that right?
Also for blogging it can be a range. Your thoughts on pricing: 600-800 words: $500-650 | 800-1200 words: $700-$1000
Then for an agency – minus 10-20%.
I’d like to get her on the phonn to discuss her needs. So, I’m going to ask her instead of giving her the rates.
I’d like your thoughts, thanks.
